President’s Letter – July 2026

Dear Friends ~

First, to business
I’m delighted to let you know that our 2026-27 subscription campaign is doing exceptionally well and that we  have already reached 70% of our goal. Many thanks to all the new and renewing subscribers who have signed up for a brilliant new season. You make it possible to bring classical music stars like James Ehnes and Jan Lisiecki to the Valley!  If you have not already done so, subscriptions can be renewed or purchased at theboxoffice.ca or you can call 250-469-8940 during business hours. As I write this, there are 17 seats (including 5 pairs) in the Mary Irwin Theatre available for new subscribers.

Because our loyal subscribers are the foundation of CMK’s success, we always do everything we can to encourage renewal of seats held by subscribers in the previous season and 2025-26 subscribers still have until August 14th to renew your seats. At that time, non-renewed seats will be returned to “available” status with first priority going to subscribers who have requested changes of seating.

Single tickets will be made available on August 17th . To be honest, we do not expect to have a large number, so subscribing is still the best option to ensure seats for the shows you don’t want to miss!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Friends have made us aware of a number of challenges in placing subscription orders with the Box Office this year. If you encounter difficulties in the future, please contact Terri-Lynn or Kesey at the aforementioned phone number.

A wonderful June with Quatuor Amis
If you were able to attend one of the concerts at the RCA or at Quails’ Gate Estate Winery, you enjoyed a wonderful evening showcasing the refined talents of the four young artists who joined us for two brilliant programs. Special thanks to Quails’ Gate and to Bistro Roma Nord whose sponsorship made both evenings memorable for excellence in food and wine as well as music!

2026 Arnold Draper Awards
The independent committee charged with selecting music students to receive the awards funded by the Arnold Draper Fund for Young Artists at the Central Okanagan Foundation has nominated three recipients this year for awards totaling $3,000. To the many CMK friends who have made donations to the fund (matched by CMK), we hope you are pleased with the progress that the program has made.

Wishing you all the best for a wonderful Okanagan summer!

P. Diane Bond, President
