President’s Message – November 2024

Hello CMK Friends –

Here we are again on the cusp of the holiday season, and, of course, music is always an important part of the festivities. We hope to see everyone at our November 22nd and December 14th concerts for two very different programs.

Chamber music embraces a very wide range of repertoire and exponents, and putting together a season of concerts can never explore everything that fits under the definition. This season, our Artistic Director, Patricia Tao, features a wind quintet in addition to the more usual string and piano works; we last presented a wind ensemble back in 2017.  WindSync, who make their Kelowna debut on Friday, offer a wide-ranging program covering music from Buxtehude (17th Century) and Mozart (18th Century) to the present.

In December, Kerson Leong (violin) and Jessica Xylina Osborne (piano) will perform a program of French works by Poulenc, Debussy, Franck and Ravel. In the seasonal spirit of giving, this evening will also support the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

As you make your personal list for holiday greetings and gift-giving, here’s a suggestion:  tickets to our Special Masters Concert by the James Ehnes Quartet on April 24 would be a very special gift for those particular friends and family members. Tickets are now available to the public through the Community Box Office at 250.469.8940 and are selling fast!

With warm wishes to you and your families for a festive and joyous holiday season!
Diane
