President’s Message – June 2023
Dear CMK Friends –
We are delighted to open our 2023 Concerts in the Community program with three unique appearances by the young and adventurous New-York based Ulysses String Quartet – one of whose members has a family connection to Kelowna. Their weekend residency (June 16-18) is our opportunity to bring these top-quality string performers to a variety of local venues beyond the RCA. We trust you will find an event that appeals in a list (see below) that offers something for everyone.
We are delighted to welcome UBC Okanagan as the new sponsor of this series. We appreciate their support for the Kelowna musical scene very much.
As most of you know, we announced our 2023-24 season at the wonderful season finale concert by the Montrose Trio on April 29. Many attendees picked up their personalized 2023-24 subscription offering and those not claimed were mailed out to the addresses we have on file. If you have not received your package, please send an email to [email protected] confirming your address and phone number and one will be mailed out to you!
If you are a current subscriber and have already renewed, THANK YOU! If you have not, please respond before too long – the deadline to guarantee your seats or request new seats is September 1 and we all know that summers in the Okanagan can be very busy.
In an upcoming newsletter, we will feature an interview with our Artistic Director, Patricia Tao, about how she put her first CMK season together to include a wide range of artists (most are new to Kelowna) with programming from solo piano repertoire to Spanish Renaissance. I think you will find her thoughts very interesting. We will also feature a piece on our program-note writer par excellence, subscriber Susan Jacobs.
