Robert deMaine is an American virtuoso cellist who has been hailed by The New York Times as “an artist who makes one hang on every note.”  He is a highly sought-after solo artist and chamber musician, is a frequent guest artist at many of the world’s premier chamber music festivals, and has appeared on great world stages.

Pianist Peter Takács has appeared as guest soloist with major orchestras in the US and abroad, and has performed and recorded the cycle of 32 Beethoven piano sonatas on the Cambria label.  DeMaine and  Takács have recorded the complete Beethoven Sonatas and Variations for cello and piano, a selection of which will form tonight’s program.
