Saturday, April 29, 2023: Montrose Trio
Two Canadian superstars, Jon Kimura Parker and Martin Beaver, together with renowned English cellist Clive Greensmith, share the stage as the Montrose Trio closes CMK’s 2022-23 season. These extraordinary musicians have quickly established a reputation for ensemble performances of the highest distinction. Pianist Jon Kimura Parker (“one of Canada’s most engaging pianists of the last three decades” – Geoffrey Newman) regularly performs with major North America orchestras, while violinist Martin Beaver and cellist Clive Greensmith were previously with the renowned Tokyo String Quartet. Tonight’s program is described by Jackie Parker as, “Mendelssohn’s rapturous and romantic Trio in C minor, in a program that also highlights three unique voices of the 20th century, in music born in the depths of WWII, music inspired by horseback riding in the Andes, and a little jazz!”
