President’s Message – October 2025
Dear Friends –
The 2025-26 season opened on October 4 with celebrated Canadian pianist Stewart Goodyear in a brilliant program featuring three well-loved Beethoven sonatas as well as Stewart’s own works. The audience response was more than appreciative and the season got off to a flying start.
The opening performance was dedicated to the memory of Lorna Higdon-Norrie, our most recent Vice-President and a Director of CMK for over 3 years. Our appreciation of her many contributions to CMK is below. She is sadly missed.
Our next concert, a varied and romantic guitar recital with Raphaël Feuillâtre on Oct 30th has only a very small number of seats available at time of writing. The same is true of the November appearance by Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra led by Rachel Podger, Principal Guest Conductor. If you have not yet secured yours, the best option is to check for returns online at theboxoffice.ca or you can call 250-469-8940 during business hours. And, if you are a ticketholder but find yourself unable to attend, please call the Box Office to donate your seats for resale so another music-lover can enjoy the performance. You will receive a tax receipt for your donation.
We have a special appeal for those in a position to make a tax-deductible contribution to CMK. The cost of hosting a touring chamber orchestra (fees, hotel for 2 nights for 19 people plus a proper meal pre-performance) are significant. If you can make a contribution to help us meet these extraordinary costs, we will be most grateful. The easiest way to donate is via Canada Helps or you can send a good old-fashioned cheque to PO Box 25093, Mission Park, Kelowna BC V1W 3Y7.
