Chamber Music Kelowna proudly continues to present the winners of the Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC).

Co-laureate of the 2019 BISQC, Viano String Quartet is praised for their “huge range of dynamics, massive sound, and spontaneity” (American Record Guide). They won Grand Prize at the 2019 ENKOR International Music Competition, second prize at the 2019 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition and third prize at the 2018 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, where they also received the Sidney Griller award for best performance of the compulsory work, The Four Quarters by Thomas Adès, and the Haydn Prize for the best performance of a Haydn string quartet.

Viano String Quartet was formed in 2015 at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where they are Ensemble in Residence through the 2020-21 season. The quartet has performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, SOKA Performing Arts Center, and the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts and has performed with world class musicians such as pianists Emanuel Ax and Elisso Virsaladze, violist Paul Coletti, and violinist Martin Beaver.
