President’s Message – February 2023
Dear Friends,
I hope you have enjoyed the CMK 2022-23 season to date. I’m delighted to say that we are achieving good success this year – both artistically and financially. The concerts have been exciting, our ticket sales are on budget and many donors have been generous. We are so fortunate in our loyal supporters and your dedication to great music.
As you know, ticket revenue covers only a portion of the costs of bringing these wonderful artists to the Mary Irwin Theatre: the rest is made up from the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and funders. We recognize our donors in the annual season program for their level of contribution, and we would love to see the list grow every year. If you haven’t already made a donation for the current fiscal year ending April 30, may we ask you to take a minute and do so now? You can contribute online at https://chambermusickelowna.ca/donate/ – or you can mail a cheque to Chamber Music Kelowna, PO Box 25093 Mission Park, Kelowna, BC V1W 3Y7. We thank you sincerely for your support.
We are looking forward to our next concert on March 10th featuring the much-delayed appearance of Robert deMaine, cellist and Peter Takács, piano. Robert is the Principal Cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a truly great North American orchestra. If you will forgive a little personal story, my first real job years ago was with the LA Phil writing applications for grants. I always loved the concerts. We are honoured to welcome Robert and Peter to Kelowna and CMK.
And if you would like to do a little “friend-raising” for CMK, consider who amongst your circle of acquaintance might enjoy our concerts and invite them to the upcoming show. The March 10 concert will be a treat for seasoned concert-goers and newcomers alike – so we have set up a special promo code by which individual tickets can be purchased for a one-time discount of 20% (see link below). We are especially happy when someone who is new to Kelowna or new to classical music joins us at the Mary Irwin Theatre for a performance.
With all best wishes,
Diane
